HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SUBJECTS

You may be tempted to choose subjects based purely on your personal interests and preferences, or the difficulty level of the subjects. Of course, this is your choice, but if you have no idea what you want to do after school, we trust that this information will help you make informed choices about your academic future. Before choosing your subjects, you should consider the following steps:

STEP 1: Find out what your interests are and get to know yourself.

STEP 2: Gather information about possible career opportunities.

STEP 3: Make sure you are aware of the admission requirements for studies at a tertiary institution.

STEP 4: Familiarize yourself with Grade 10-12 pass requirements.

STEP 5: Decide on a  selection of subjects that will get you TO Grade 12 and THROUGH Grade 12. Here the decision between Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy is a very important one.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Universities have minimum admission requirements and subject recommendations. Familiarise yourself with the minimum requirements before you make your subject choices. Take note that subject and achievement requirements differ from one university to the next.
